Ireland - Donegal and West Coast

As you can see here one end of the Donegal Castle is in ruins with only the facade remaining. It is generally accepted that Red Hugh O'Donnell burned the castle down in 1592 to stop it falling into the hands of the English. It was renovated again with a much altered tower house. A manor house was built onto it in the 1600s.
